WHY aqua? Or better yet, HOW aqua? A restaurant & spa…seriously…!
It was the diligence, faith, and commitment of several parties. What started as an inkling that something else was out there, not really knowing what, but something that involved some form of being of service.
It may have started with my Grandma, Lettie Kurtz, who took me to work with her, where I washed dishes, peeled potatoes, pickled eggs, cooked breakfast, and the like. Or maybe, it was just her spirit…funny, strict, and loved food. She exercised patience toward the little girl she taught to can tomatoes, laugh a bunch, bake pies, and wander like a butterfly through life; sampling the sweetest of nectars.
Fast forward, to meeting the Westerlund Family. We shared football, cookouts, and lots of wine. The idea was like a grain of sand that evolved into a beautiful growing partnership that I honor every day. And really, even the Town of Duck understood, esp. Denver Lindley (deceased) and Claiborne Yarbourgh et all. They bought the rather ‘hair brained’ idea that the old Herron property once called “Swan Cove” could be transformed from a ugly duckling, dormant property to the swan called AQUA, through a visionary idea, patience and trust.
And now in 2011, with four amazing years under our belt, we are building a team that respects the vision of transformation, wellness, fresh healthy food. We created a gracious environment to express yourself, grow and perform at your very best. Yes, that is AQUA! That’s what we are, we love the water that surrounds us, the bounty it produces, the lessons it teaches and the depth it explores.
